RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A SUCCESSFUL CULTIVATION
Production target | High grain yields under locally adapted cultivation, providing the specific quality traits of an ancient grain. |
Crop rotation | Comparable to spelt wheat |
Sowing time | From the end of September to mid-October |
Seeding | Sowing time and sowing rate: |
Standard sowing: 150-170 spikelets/m² (app. 160-180 kg/ha)
Late sowing: 170-190 spikelets/m² (app. 180-200 kg/ha)
Increasing the sowing rate on the basis of organic production methods (e.g. harrowing) should be carried out at own discretion.
Weed control | Späths Albjuwel competes well against weeds, so that two to three rounds of harrowing should normally be sufficient. The first harrowing should be performed as early as possible once the 3 leaf stage has begun in spring. A second round should be carried out three to four weeks later. |
