RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A SUCCESSFUL CULTIVATION
Production target | Stable grain yield of a spelt with red grains and a special flavour; recommended for organic farming. |
Sowing time | From the end of September to end of October |
Seeding | Sowing time and sowing rate: |
Early sowing: 130-150 spikelets/m² (appr. 160-180 kg/ha)
Late sowing: 160-180 spikelets/m² (appr. 190-210 kg/ha)
Increasing the sowing rate by ca. 10 % on the basis of organic production methods (e.g. harrowing) should be carried out at own discretion.
Weed control | Späths Albrubin has a lower competitive ability against weeds compared to other spelt varieties. The first harrowing should be performed as early as possible once the 3 leaf stage has begun in spring. A second round should be carried out three to four weeks later. |
