Asparagus: Rapsody

This medium-early to late growing 100% male hybrid convinces with a combination of good quality traits and a high yield potential. Rapsody is well suited for forced cultivation conditions in order to prolong the end of the vegetation period. For this purpose it can be planted deeper. The variety delivers reliably high crop sizes until the end of the season.

CULTIVATION

RAPSODY is suitable for all types of asparagus soils. It thrives particularly well in heavy soils, however it is important to ensure an adequate average water supply (groundwater level should not be too high). We recommend RAPSODY for the production of white asparagus with a plant density of 3-4 plants per running meter.

YIELD AND QUALITY

RAPSODY offers a high yield potential. Straight spears in shining white and a firm tip are typical for this variety. RAPSODY has an appealing spear diameter and is classified uniformly, mainly in the range of 16-26 mm. Its low proportion of torn, hollow stems, and stem rust (asparagus rust) is striking.

FOLIAGE

RAPSODY shows medium to long, solid and firm sprouts. Its dark green foliage is loosely branched and has a high tolerance against the naturally occurring asparagus leaf diseases. In autumn the foliage stays green and strong for an exceptionally long time. This allows a long assimilation period, which is particularly important for a late hybrid.
