Raffaelo
HIGH YIELDS AND GOOD QUALITY UNTIL THE END OF THE SEASON!
- Late ripening variety with a high stem stability
- Extraordinarily high yield potential
- Perfectly firm tip
- The perfect variety for the end of the season
Raffaelo is a late growing 100% male hybrid with outstanding quality traits and a high yield potential despite the late harvest. Raffaelo is suitable for all types of asparagus soils and in comparison to other late growing asparagus varieties it has a perfectly firm tip.
CULTIVATION
Our present state of knowledge shows that RAFAELLO is suitable for all types of asparagus soils. The large spear diameter allows an economical production of the asparagus and a long use of the plants. Depending on the soil type and the crop intensity we recommend a plant density of 5-8 plants per meter. RAFFAELO is particularly well suited for a late asparagus production and the cultivation under white plastic sheeting in order to delay harvest.
YIELD AND QUALITY
Although the beginning of the harvest is late, RAFFAELO achieves a high yield potential. The asparagus spears are straight and smooth with a perfectly firm tip. RAFFAELO is uniformly classified, showing a high proportion of spears in a range of 20-26 mm. The proportion of ridged, hollow, and curly spears is low. The variety has no tendency to breaking and due to its positive spear traits a high proportion of the production is class I.
FOLIAGE
RAFFAELO shows a high number of medium-long, solid and firm sprouts. Its medium green foliage is relatively dense, however it has a high tolerance against the naturally occurring asparagus leaf diseases and ripens well, although not too late.
