RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A SUCCESSFUL CULTIVATION
|Production target||High grain yield while achieving good straw stability and showing low susceptibility to yellow rust; recommended for organic farming.|
|Sowing time||From the end of September to mid-October|
|Seeding||Sowing time and sowing rate:|
|Early sowing: 120-140 spikelets/m² (app. 170-190 kg/ha)|
|Late sowing: 160-180 spikelets/m² (app. 200-220 kg/ha)|
|Increasing the sowing rate on the basis of organic production methods (e.g. harrowing) should be carried out at own discretion.|
|Weed control||Zollernspelz competes well against weeds so that two to three rounds of harrowing should normally be sufficient. The first harrowing should be performed as early as possible once the 3 leaf stage has begun in spring. A second round should be carried out three to four weeks later.|
