ZOLLERNSPELZ is our successful spelt variety used in organic farming. It has a high yield potential and possesses excellent quality traits. Further advantages of this variety are excellent straw stability and low susceptibility to disease.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A SUCCESSFUL CULTIVATION

Production targetHigh grain yield while achieving good straw stability and showing low susceptibility to yellow rust; recommended for organic farming.
Sowing timeFrom the end of September to mid-October
SeedingSowing time and sowing rate:

Early sowing: 120-140 spikelets/m² (app. 170-190 kg/ha)

Late sowing: 160-180 spikelets/m² (app. 200-220 kg/ha)

Increasing the sowing rate on the basis of organic production methods (e.g. harrowing) should be carried out at own discretion.
Weed controlZollernspelz competes well against weeds so that two to three rounds of harrowing should normally be sufficient. The first harrowing should be performed as early as possible once the 3 leaf stage has begun in spring. A second round should be carried out three to four weeks later.
